Pikeville Discount Drug has been serving the city of Pikeville and Pike county for over 70 years. Although the store has operated under different names over the years we still provide the same small town service as when the doors opened back in the 1940's. Thomas Howell opened up Howell Drug in the late 40's on the corner of Main St. and Division St. after working for Standard Drug which was straight across the street.

Just down main street was another pharmacy called New Drug located beside the Anthony Hotel. In the early 1970's Howell Drug and New Drug were combined and formed Pikeville Drug.The pharmacy operated under that name until the mid 1990's. At that point the pharmacy was sold and the name was changed to Downtown Pikeville Drug. This name was used until the early 2000's when the pharmacy moved out of the downtown area and changed to Pikeville Discount Drug.
